What?!?! Victory releases a punk rock record?!??! I mean, I guess that pretty much everything that Victory has released has been influenced by punk rock in some way or another, but I can't recall the label EVER putting out a release that is as straightforwardly punk rock as this disc by Madcap. I'm not quite sure how such an act will fare on this label, but one thing's for sure; one of the parties must have been pretty unsatisfied in Madcap's relationship with their previous label, Side One Dummy. Otherwise, I just can't see the logic of this band wanting to relocate to such an ill-fitting label.

In the end, though, the Victory Bulldog is just a little bit of ink on the back cover of the record; what's really important is the music and, unlike Madcap's mediocre last effort for Side One, Under Suspicion is pretty damn good. While East to West played the sugary, melodic chorus a bit too often to keep my attention, on Under Suspicion the band tries to push their songwriting a bit further without losing the catchiness that was their earlier trademark. Genre-bending like the straight-up reggae of Under Suspicion's title track and the horn breaks on "Searching for Ground" are exactly the types of sounds that were missing from the band's last record, and these progressions in ambition make the East to West-ish singalongs like "Youth Explosion" go down all that much more smoothly.

While still a bit too slick and pop-punkish to appeal to fans of '77 diehards like the Briefs and the Ends, with Under Suspicion Madcap have lodged themselves firmly in the league of high-end pop punk like Less than Jake, Rancid and Blink 182. If you're one of those people who have an all-encompassing hatred for slick pop punk you'll probably still want to stay away from this (after all, it IS on Victory), but if you have any love for this style at all Madcap should be on your playlist, as Under Suspicion is seriously top shelf.

When the first 'Punk and Disorderly' album came out in early 1982 it created quite a stir. It went straight into the national Top 50 as well as reaching the Top 3 of the Independent chart. Two more Punk and Disorderly releases were to follow, both of which were also very successful, with combined sales of the 3 releases topping 100,000 copies. Empezaron hace seis años haciendo un punk rock crudo y primitivo, combinando en sus canciones letras agresivas con guitarras rápidas, concisas y potentes. Un primer EP compartido con Frogger, del que ambos grupos prefieren olvidarse, dio paso a grabaciones con más calidad de sonido pero igualmente brutales en sus planteamientos. Poco después participan en la banda sonora de la película Killer Barbies y en un tributo a Angry Samoans, además de publicar en su propio sello (Punch Records) un EP compartido con los también madrileños Fastfood, grupo con el que compartían miembros por aquel entonces. En diciembre del 96 vio la luz su primer álbum "C'mon Cop Make My Day" en Rumble Records: quince escupitajos del punk rock más salvaje que fueron recibidos con entusiasmo por la critica especializada. El disco sorprendió a todos los que lo escucharon y les abrió un hueco entre los grupos más prometedores del punk rock estatal. Ya en el 98 publicaron un EP compartido con los californianos Loudmouths (Punch) y el 10" "13 Steps to Hell", también compartido, este con Puñetazo (No Tomorrow). Tras cambiar algunos miembros de su formación (nuevo batería y nuevo bajista), Aerobitch sigue cosechando muy buenas críticas, lo que, unido a un buen puñado de conciertos (entre ellos en Festimad 98), fue extendiendo la fama del grupo en nuestro país.



Mientras tanto, Aerobitch empezaron a hacerse un pequeño nombre en la escena punk internacional: aparecen en un recopilatorio del sello alemán Radioblast y la revista OX y en otro del fanzine argentino No Sabe No Contesta; publican el mencionado EP compartido con los norteamericanos Loudmouths, son entrevistados por la revista griega The Thing (apareciendo en su CD) y reciben muy buenas reseñas por parte de la crítica especializada extranjera (Maximum RnR, Sonic Iguana, Plastic Bomb, The Thing, Dig It, KALX radio...).


La formación se transforma en un quinteto poco antes de grabar su segundo LP, "Time to Start Kickin' Ass": dieciséis canciones (17 en el vinilo) que reflejaban el trabajo de dos años y las enormes ganas de tocar del grupo. Una vez más se reconoce la influencia de algunos de sus más importantes referentes (Dwarves, Adolescents, Motörhead, Circle Jerks, Heartbreakers...) aunque la compenetración y precisión ganada a base de muchos conciertos les permitió reflejar nuevas influencias de grupos que siempre les habían gustado (Poison Idea, Nine Pound Hammer, AC/DC) y que hasta ahora no habían aparecido claramente reflejadas en sus temas. De nuevo, canciones directas, compactas, salvajes y muy buenas. El grupo se lanza a la carretera para dar a conocer por toda nuestra geografía su nuevo trabajo y su estupendo directo. Éxito de crítica y público: los conciertos se llenan y el disco es votado en varias publicaciones (Rock Sound, Popular 1...) como uno de los mejores del 98. En noviembre de ese año son reclamados por Radio 3 para grabar un concierto emitido por la segunda cadena estatal. El grupo llega cada vez a mayor cantidad de público, lo que lleva a Punch a reeditar, en formato 10'', su primer álbum.

Jose Battaglio , parte fundamental de La Frontera en sus primeros años , habia formado antes esta banda (influenciada por Los Ramones y grupos similares) que edita un single con el ya todo un "clasico" , "Radio 222" (Hispavox 1983) otro de sus componentes fue Enrique Martin (luego en Las Ruedas)


Esta es sin duda otra reliquia de la historia del Punk en nuestro Estado

a falta de info , os pego esto que he encontrao (decir que en este grupo hay gente de Inkubo , de quienes ya puse su demo)

A pesar de la mala noche, que no invitaba mucho a salir de casa nos plantamos en Maoño dispuestos a ver al grupo bilbaino "La Soga del Muerto" cuyo estilo se podría definir, tal y como ponía en los carteles, como punk de la vieja escuela, y a los locales Kaskarriak, con su particular punk - ska a dos voces.

El concierto lo empezaron el cuarteto vasco "La Soga del Muerto", decir como curiosidad y tras ciertas comentarios en el foro de esta página, que el grupo tenía una vocalista femenina. El concierto se basó en unos veintitantos temas, de un punk bastante acelerado y con continuos cambio de ritmo. Por lo que nos contaban, intercalaron temas de la etapa actual con los de otro grupo anterior que tenían.

La banda se forma en el año de 1996 en la ciudad más grande y contaminada del mundo. Al principio eran cinco, luego cuatro y ahora son tres. En la época en que eran un cuarteto graban un “demo-níaco' producido por ellas mismas en su cuarto de ensayo, que se convierte en un vinilo de 10' que edita la disquera Electro Harmonix en España.
Tiempo después graban 14 temas en tres días, que terminan mezclando nuevamente ellas mismas, y que se convierte en su compacto debut titulado 'Yo fui una Adolescente Terrosatánica: Las Versiones Definitivas', editado por la disquera española Munster Records, disco que incluyó parte de su repertorio en vivo, con temas que se volvieron clásicos a nivel subterráneo y callejero como 'Monstruo Verde' (incluida en la película 'Perfume de Violetas') y la provocadora 'Vente en mi Boca', la única canción de amor de Ultrasónicas en ese disco.

Ese último tema las lleva a conquistar los corazones de gente tan disímbola como locutores de radio, quienes programan la canción casi de contrabando, comerciantes del Tianguis del Chopo y diversos periodistas, quienes hablan de Ultrasónicas como si de un nuevo movimiento femenil se tratara, y califican su disco como uno de los mejores de rock de 2001.

Pero los logros no terminan ahí; el tema 'Vente en mi Boca' es incluido dentro del acoplado conmemorativo del LAMC 2002 (Latin Alternative Music Conference), evento que se lleva a cabo en Nueva York, y reúne a las personalidades más importantes del rock a nivel hispanoamericano.

Sus letras son directas, agresivas, contundentes, y tratan siempre de evadir las metáforas. Su música es simplemente un rock muy básico y primitivo, cuasi cavernario, el cual incluye tintes de rocanrol de los 60´s, garage, surf, punk y metal. Sus bandas preferidas son: Black Sabbath, Ramones, Cramps, Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Locos del Ritmo, The Who, The Kinks, The Beatles, Slayer y Uff!.

La historia del grupo es tan intensa y particular, que Ali Gua Gua -guitarrista del grupo- decide plasmar sus singulares vivencias en una 'películalargometrajerockumental' hecha en 16mm y video, que narra la historia de Ultrasónicas dentro de 'la mediocre escena subterránea de la ciudad de México'. La película se llama 'Todos Están Muriendo Aquí', dirigida por Ali Gardoki, y ha sido proyectada en la Cineteca Nacional y algunos festivales fuera de México.

Después de una pausa de 2 años, Ultrasónicas regresan como 'power-trío', con nuevas canciones y mucha actitud. El disco es producido por el talentoso productor y guitarrista Alejandro Marcovich, quien a su vez es director de Discos Termita.

El disco fue grabado, mezclado y masterizado en los prestigiados estudios de Sony Music México durante los meses de julio y agosto de 2002. '¡OH SÍ, MÁS, MÁS!' es el título del segundo álbum del grupo, que salió a la venta durante la segunda mitad de noviembre de 2002. De este disco se desprende el primer corte promocional titulado '¡Qué Grosero!', tema que enciende la mecha de la explosividad lírica de Ultrasónicas.

Segismundo Toxicómano no es el hijo bastardo de Manolo Kabezabolo, sino otro representante más de la nueva andanada que el punk rock estatal nos viene deparando en los últimos tiempos.

A estas alturas, un grupo que siga la pista musical de Reincidentes, La Polla, Boikot, M.C.D.... etcétera, tiene que tener mucho más que horas de ensayo para poder sacar la cabeza y que no se la vuelen los otros tropecientos mil émulos de Evaristo y compañía.

Pero es que los de Vitoria lo han conseguido. Tienen fuerza, rabia y mensaje en unas letras que a pesar de tratar la misma llamada a la lucha social que tantos otros, tienen un punto que las distingue. Su ira musical se desboca hasta un paso más allá de donde se quedan gente como Reincidentes, y se adentran sin complejos en esa tierra de nadie, frontera entre el punk y el hardcore.

Curiosamente, me recuerdan muchísimo no a las bandas ya mencionadas, sino a Mal Pasar, banda argentina con igual rabia y potencia, aunque con un toque vocal más “ché”.

Del disco destaca sobre todo la traca inicial, con “Realidad”, “12 años” (interesante tema sobre la prostitución infantil) y “Podredumbre”. Otro tema digno de mención es “La Rana”, un tema con una ingeniosa metáfora para explicar el funcionamiento de nuestro mundo neoliberal.

Finalmente, reseñar la lograda presentación. Aquello del “hazlo tú mismo” ha llegado hoy a límites muy altos.

These 3 girls and 2 guys really impressed me at the Grrls Riot festival here in fucking Aalborg half a year ago and the 7” here rocks just fine. Very Ramones inspired but played with gusto and rock’n’roll attitude enough to kick some ass and with great lead vocals and harmonies. Actually some of this reminds me of a slicker version of the first Donnas album. Four good songs here, but I have a hard time figuring out why “Can’t Stop Drivin’” has to fucking fade out and all this German dominatrix stuff is getting on my nerves. I like the band name though and I like the music here. Especially the flipside rocks like shit and the last song’s chorus “He’s only pretty when I’m drunk” is right up there with Black Francis’ “You’re so pretty when you’re faithful to me”. I would have liked the sound a bit rawer, but I think I’ll just blame Cristoph from the Cellophane Suckers cuz he produced this cool slab of vinyl.

This is a very, very cool release. It has been a long, long time since a new punk-pop band has offered itself up to my turntable and won me over, however The Battledykes have officially ended the dry spell. No more burying my head in my pillow every night sobbing over the death of great vinyl releases. Thanks to the ultra-hip Thunderbaby, the German "great girl-group-label for cool chicks," who specialize in limited-run colored vinyl releases with lots of fun extra stuff thrown in (this one includes a Battledykes squirt gun!), there shall be no immediate shortage of pulse-quickening, fiery blasts of wax.
The Battledyke's first foray into the world of the hallowed seven-inch singles is quite a pleasant surprise. Catchy, charged-up, pulverizing, attitude-drenched 90's pop-punk with snappy hooks and a clear love of American pop-punk outfits. The band starts things off with their call to arms "Battledyke," with some huge Ramonesy chord progressions that shall knock you flat out of your stool and into your dancing shoes. A battle cry for the fans, very much along the lines of The Groovie Ghoulie's own theme song.
The band then stumbles right into "Can't Stop Drivin'" a nod to classic cruising and hot rod songs, that starts with a sample of a car revving up and peeling out and then races into another punchy, head-bopping rock and roll flavored pop-punk tune that'll have you singing along in six seconds flat.
The smash-hit of this record lies not on the A-Side however, but rather on the side labeled AA (I suppose making it the double-smash hit side). "Domina," which is apparentely the German word for dominatrix (although the song is otherwise sung in english), starts off mellow and immediately kicks into high-gear nearly ripping your ears off in the process. Brilliantly the song starts off with the chorus and immediately sinks its hooks into your aural receptors, dragging you under for some two minutes until you're finally let up able to gasp just enough air to sustain you for the next track.
The Battledyke's beauty lies in the fact that they rely on the traditional pop-punk mad-lib-like formula and use it in all the right ways, filling in the blanks with nicely accented female vocals, huge Ramonesey guitar chords, and simple catchy songs that feature some gargantuan choruses that you'll be chanting from the time your alarm clock starts blurting-out until the time you jam down the gas pedal on your car and fly out of the driveway.
The single closes with "Only Pretty," another manic pop-punker about beer goggles, and a fitting way to close out a killer pop-punk slab.
As I said, this is a very cool release. It's nothing earth-shattering, but then again pop-punk rarely is. However more often than not it's bland, dried up shit, The Battledykes, however, know what's up and bring the goods to the table. I am making my new immediate goal to investigate Thunderbaby Records further and see what other sizzling singles I'm missing out on. Don't forget you also get a free squirt-gun and a nice hunk of rock and roll-clear vinyl to add to your struggling collection.

Os Zumbis do Espaço surgiram em 1996, idealizados por Tor, Zumbilly e Gargoyle. Aficionados por filmes, quadrinhos e livros de terror e ficção científica, tiveram a idéia de formar uma banda voltada exclusivamente para essa temática, com letras em português. Recrutaram Cromo, um amigo de longa data para a guitarra. Com algumas bandas no currículo e muitos anos escutando todo o tipo de rock'n'roll, eles juntaram tudo isso para formar o som dos Zumbis.

Logo começaram os ensaios e rapidamente entraram em estúdio para gravar a sua primeira e única demo tape, hoje muito rara, intitulada "Demonotape". Ela contava com 4 músicas que mais tarde fizeram parte do legendário álbum "A Invasão". Mais duas sessões de gravação completaram o álbum e assim a banda caiu na estrada.

Após algum tempo Gargoyle precisou deixar a banda e em seu lugar entrou seu grande amigo e extraordinário baixista, El Phantasma. Esta nova formação consolidou o nome dos Zumbis, fazendo muitos shows e gravando os clássicos EP's que se seguiram: "3 Clássicos do Inferno", "Pesadelo Brasileiro" e "O Despertar da Besta".

Infelizmente no início de 1999 uma grande tragédia se abateu sobre a banda: um acidente de moto tirou a vida de El Phantasma. Atordoados com a perda inestimável, quase decidiram acabar com a banda, mas resolveram chamar novamente Gargoyle para o baixo, não apenas por ser um membro da formação original, mas também por que ele era um grande amigo de El Phantasma. Ninguém melhor para honrar seu nome e ocupar seu posto.

Voltaram à estrada após alguns meses, fazendo alguns shows em homenagem ao amigo. No fim de 1999 gravaram "Abominável Mundo Monstro", lançado em março de 2000. O álbum definiu o estilo único dos Zumbis do Espaço, juntando com sucesso influências tão diversas como punk rock, metal, country e rockabilly/psychobilly. Cromo deixou a banda após gravar o álbum e em seu lugar entrou Hank Alien Sr.

Muitos shows depois, incluindo alguns acompanhando a turnê brasileira de Marky Ramone and the Intruders, surgiu o furioso álbum ao vivo "O Mal Nunca Morre". Gravado em uma única apresentação em São Paulo no início de 2001, o álbum mostra bem o que é um show dos Zumbis do Espaço. Sempre na estrada, a banda foi arregimentando uma verdadeira legião de fãs extremamente leais e autênticos, em todo o Brasil e em outros países. No fim do ano o álbum "A Invasão" foi lançado pela 1ª vez em vinil 12" com uma música bônus.

O ano de 2002 foi bastante produtivo, com ótimos shows e a participação no programa Musikaos da TV Cultura. Em março deste ano foi lançado o aguardado "Aberrações Que Somos", um álbum insano com 17 novas músicas dedicadas aos verdadeiros fãs da banda. Em maio lançaram na Europa "Spiele Des Horrors", uma coletânea dos 3 primeiros álbuns da banda. No fim do ano assinaram a trilha sonora do filme "Crônicas de um Zumbi Adolescente" e participaram do CD Tributo ao Garotos Podres.

Em 2003 a banda dá continuidade à turnê do álbum "Aberrações Que Somos", tocando o máximo possível, inclusive em cidades onde jamais havia estado, como Brasília e Sorocaba, Piracicaba e Catanduva no interior de São Paulo. No dia 31/10/03 gravam "Somente Esta Noite: Aberrações Ao Vivo", o 2º álbum ao vivo durante o já tradicional show de Halloween em São Paulo, um evento que crese a cada ano. O álbum sai no início de 2004 enquanto a banda continua em turnê, ao mesmo tempo em que escreve músicas para seu novo trabalho de estúdio programado para o final do ano.

the first new album in a while from bil and friends. the line up has changed(replacing spot and fil are tommy and fill, from gob).However the album still retains the Mcrackins catchy, punk pop sillyness and provides us with some excellent songs. the new bassist seems to be put to better use than fil was in previous albums and the new drummer you may recognise from bil's solo album.

The Hymans started as a trio in 1984 because the rockscene in Ludvika, Dalarna, Sweden really sucked. The band became retards of rock and wanted to make great tunes with less tricks than other bands used. Later in 87 the bass-player moved and was shifted with a new vital force. Matte and Micke said goodbye to Hazzle and hello to Kempa. As a trio they played on for another 5 years, made demo tapes and gained good reviews from undergorund press. But still there was something missing in the concept, so they asked another guitarist to join them. The year was 1992 and his name was Bempa and he was kinda cute and young looking.... A retarded guitarist who only could play 3 chord wonders at volume 11 and that was it, quite enough for Hymans. And now Micke could concentrate o what he was doing best- the singing.

A year after Bempa's parted they got a so called contract with Birdnest Records from Köping runned by Granberg an ancient friend of Micke but, and this is an important notice, he never really worshipped the Ramones and that kind of New Age punkrock´n´roll but he made a deal with the Hymans....He must´ve liked it anyway somehow. It resulted in Hymanity a 16 tune album recorded in a local studio in Ludvika called Studio KM Rockshop. Engineer was Rob Bacon and now wellknown Peter Tägtgren. The result never turned out as good as the Hymans had expected, it simply didn´t got mastered at all. Really good tunes never got the chance to show the potential that they have.
