Pods and Gods was supposed to go on the record, but we decided to put my vagina on instead. pods and gods is kinda new wave. it was fun to record cuz i got to play keyboards on it. brian archer did the artwork, and i think it looks cool. it's limited to 12,000 pressing and it's all on orange vinyl.

Serving up punk the way it was meant to be played – rabidly, rapidly and proficiently – this forceful, guttural five-piece from Sacramento, is one of the last authentic American hardcore units left in existence.
“We’re all about bringing the toughness back to punk,” says bassist Big Jay, who also doubles as a member of Lars Frederiksen’s other band, the Bastards. “Fuck that wimpy shit, get some balls and play some rock & roll.”
And with the U.S. ROUGHNECKS’ Hellcat debut, Twenty Bucks and Two Black Eyes, these cats get right to the claw. As rugged and uncompromising as the title suggests, the disc explores frontman Mike's troubled youth (“Summer of ’96”), celebrates the ‘Necks’ hometown scene (“Sacto’s Alright”) and flips the bird at local law enforcement (“Serve And Protect.”)
The Debut Full Length LP/CD from Sactos finest!

CD review by Vinnie Baggadonuts
“Fuck that wimpy shit. Get some balls and play some rock & roll.”
-Big Jay Bastard, on the current, more emo-ish state of punk rock
Yeah. If you’re in a band, and like wearing sweaters and hugging yourself, Twenty Bucks and Two Black Eyes is your worst nightmare. In fact, if you go to record stores May 11th, you’ll probably see this U.S. Roughnecks record beating the piss out of your record. Literally.
Twenty Bucks and Two Black Eyes is old-school sounding, tough-as-nails hardcore. With a serious hatred for the bacon in blue (“Sacto’s Alright”, “Outcast”, and most especially, “Serve and Protect”, with its chorus of “Fuck the police!”), and a serious love for the traditional ideals of punk rock brotherhood, U.S. Roughnecks introduce themselves to the world with a brutal, not-to-be-fucked-with 14-song half-hour. It’s not overly polished technical wizardry. It’s just good old uncompromising punk rock and roll.
If you dig the Lars Fredriksen and the Bastards (of which the quoted Big Jay Bastard is also a member) and Roger Miret & the Disasters discs Epitaph released in the last few years, you’ll devour this, no question.

AUTHORITY ZERO START A REVOLUTION WITH ANDIAMÓ
SOPHOMORE ALBUM TO BE RELEASED ON LAVA RECORDS JUNE 26
Band On The Road With Fat Mike’s PunkVoter Tour
April 29, 2004— NEW YORK, NEW YORK—Authority Zero want a revolution and they are taking it to the streets. The band will unleash their no-holes-barred tell-us-what-you-really-think sophomore album Andiamó (English translation: “We go”) on June 26. The band is currently touring with seminal indie outfit NOFX on the Punkvoter tour, a tour aimed at getting fans to register and vote.
Andiamó, produced by famed Fat Wreck knob-twister Ryan Green (NOFX) and un-official Sublime member Mike Happoldt (a.k.a. Miguel), was recorded at SJS Studios in Scottsdale, Arizona. Andiamó showcases the band’s effusive writing abilities and is their ode to bucking the status quo. Taking their cues from socially motivated peers like Bad Religion and Pennywise, artists whom Authority Zero has been compared to in earnest, these Phoenix native sons crafted an album of catchy melodies and witty lyrics infused with their now signature punk-ska aesthetic.
Andiamó’s driving first single “Revolution” is a call to arms for listeners to find their voice. Their sardonic, edgy cover of Wall of Voodoo’s alternative hit “Mexican Radio,” has already become a concert favorite while the spitfire “Solitude” showcases lead singer Jason DeVore’s vocal strength and guitarist Bill Marck’s nimble fingers. The idiosyncratic “PCH” employs the Bill of Rights in a marvelous dose of wit and satire. Of course the guys still know how to rock a party- they close the album with hidden track “Rattlin Bog”- a live version of the Irish drinking song in which DeVore spews lyrics at warp speed.
Andiamó’s cover lampoons the iconic All-American painter Norman Rockwell’s youthful classic “No Swimming,” replete with gas masks, tattoos, and a symbolic America Flag. Authority Zero will no doubt make a name for themselves in the rock new world order.
Authority Zero are vocalist Jason DeVore, guitarist Bill Marcks, bassist Jeremy Wood, and drummer Jim Wilcox. Authority Zero established a clamoring fanbase, selling 80,000 copies of their major label debut “A Passage In Time” by touring the country many times over with Sum 41, H20, and Van’s Warped Tour. Single “One More Minute” went Top 30 at radio and enjoyed major airplay on Live 105 (San Francisco), Y100 (Philadelphia), Q101 (Chicago) among others.

1985: Blaine Cartwright and Scott Luallen, natives of a small western Kentucky town (Owensboro) first played at The Ross Theater in nearby Evansville, Indiana, with drummer Toby Myrig, David Epperson, and bassist Brian (Forrest) Payne. David and Brian left, and Bart Altman joined on bass. This lineup played locally in Owensboro (KY) and Evansville (IN) before moving to Lexington (KY) as the Raw Recruit. The band then changed the name to the Black Sheep, and became the house band at Great Scott's Depot. Darren Howard replaced Toby, and the band became Nine Pound Hammer again.
Kathy Lewellyn replaced Bart on bass. The band records "Band-In #12," a Detroit, Michigan garage-rock show.
Rob Hulsman (drums) and Brian Moore (bass) join and record "The Mud, the Blood, and the Beers" LP for Wanghead in 1988. Matt Bartholomy replaces Brian on bass.
The Cadillac Inn/Surfabilly 7" is recorded in 1991. "Smokin Taters" LP is recorded for Crypt Records in 1992. The band tours Europe for the first time, 56 shows in 65 days. Johnny Evans replaces Rob on drums for another European tour. "Hayseed Timebomb" LP is recorded for Crypt Records in April/July 1994 at Stockyard Studios in Glasglow, KY with Bill Waldron on drums.
They tour Europe again with Ohio band Gaunt, including a show at The Vera, in Sweden. (A live recording of this infamous show would be released in '99 as a double LP/cd.) Adam Neal joins on drums for a U.S./Canada tour.
In 1995, the band plays Sleazefest, record the "Nothin' To Do" 7" and the "Teenage Head" 7" for Answer Records. In 1996, Bill returns for a 10-day tour of Japan that ends up being the band's last tour for several years. In 1997, the "Dead Flowers" 7" is released on Answer Records.
Blaine ( with wife Ruyter Suys and Hammer drummer Adam Neal ) forms the band Hell's Half-Acre, which (after several drummer/bassist changes) becomes Nashville Pussy, who tour incessantly and are nominated for a Grammy. Nine Pound Hammer is on hiatus during this time.
Nine Pound Hammer reunites in late 2000 for two reunion shows: Atlanta (9/23) and Lexington (12/22). Other sporadic reunion shows follow. They play Sleazefest 2001 in August at Chapel Hill, NC.
In Spring 2002, three shows featuring new material and a new drummer (Brian Pulito) are played in Atlanta (4/6), Lexington (5/17) and Nashville (5/18). Shortly thereafter, in May 2002, the boys record a new album on the analog setup at Barrick Studios (Glasgow, KY). In the fall, they play Birmingham, Alabama and Austin, Texas.
In February 2003, the band plays an Atlanta gig, and the notorious 2003 L.A. Shakedown. Matt Bartholomy, longtime bass player, leaves the band and Earl Crim takes over his duties. The band plays two European Music Festivals, Sjock Festival in Belgium and Serie Z in Spain.
In March of 2004, the band plays Richmond Kentucky and Austin Texas. New LP entitled "Kentucky Breakdown" released on Acetate Records: May 2, 2004.

Balzac formed in 1992 in Osaka and began playing shows mainly around Osaka and Tokyo. They released their first single on their own label, `Evil Legend,` in 1993. Following this, through until 1995, they released 4 more singles through HG Fact and MCR, and 1 single through Omnibus.
@ On 10th October 1995, Balzac released their first full length album, `Last Men On Earth` through Alchemy Records and due to their similarity to legendary American punk band, the Misfits, with their unique pop sound, horror movie image concept and so-called `Devil Rock` hairstyle, they gathered attention not only in Japan but also overseas.
@ In 1996 Balzac went through a major member change then, in order to reach a wider audience, on 31st October 1997 they switched labels to Phalanx Records and released their second album, `Deep.` Following this, because of their energetic lives, Balzac were chosen to open for the Misfits' first tour of Japan, began playing at events such as Devilock Night, Mosh Boyz etc, played with the Mad Capsule Markets, and did a nationwide tour twice with Sobut, increasing their activity nationwide. On 31st October 1998, Balzac released their 3rd album, `13 Stairway,`which recorded good sales was then followed by their first one man tour of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, where at each venue they played to a sell out crowd.
@ On 3rd March,1999, following a tour of Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka with Husking Bee, Balzac released a spirit album with Sobut, entitled `Oldevils,` through Phalanx Records. In the same year on 31st October, they released a 4 song Maxi Single, `Into the Light of the 13 Dark Night,` which was followed by their first widespread national tour, which came to a successful end.
http://www.balzac-europe.com/scans/pictures/band6.jpg
@ In the first half of 2000 Balzac, in January, embarked on their second Japan tour as the Misfits' opening act, and over February and March did a nationawide tour as the Mad Capsule Markets' opening act. Then in April and May they released a limited 6,666 copies of their video `Taste of Fear` which was followed by a commemorative top to bottom tour of Japan.
In Augest 2000 the limited production of 2000 Balzac 12 inch figures by Medicom Toy Co. proved to be an unprecedented and widely talked about hit in the figure industry. Currently, in November, Medicom Toy Co., are collaborating with DIW Phalanx Records and are working on a surprise project for the single to be released from their next album.
In addition, at the end of 1999,in a style similar to the early stages of the Misfits Fiend Club, a fan club managed solely by members, `Balzac Fiendish Club,` was established. Unlike other bands, there are many collectors of Balzac merchandise and due to this Balzac mania many goods are specially offered to club members only. Plus on 31st October 2000, the first Balzac official shop, `Shocker,` was opened in Osaka.
In the closing month of the 20th century, on 1st December, Balzac will release their long awaited 4th album `Zennou Naru Musuu No ME ha Shi Wo Yubi Sasu.` To commemorate the release, Balzac will stage a 28 venue, nationwide tour from January to April, 2001.
http://www.balzac-europe.com/scans/pictures/band4_einzel.jpg
Speaking of which - a limited European vinyl version of "Came Out Of The Grave" will be available in time for the tour, too. The LP has all 13 tracks of the CD (NOT the live tracks!) and comes on coloured vinyl, too.
The new Balzac album, "Came Out of the Grave", will be released via G-Force Records in Europe on April 26th. The European version has a completely different artwork from the Japanese version (see front cover above). The vinyl version (12" LP format) has no fixed release date yet but should be available in time for the European tour

Demolition Safari is the second full-length album from Kansas City's finest (and only) exporters of R&BPUNKROCK'N'ROLLFUCKEDUPMETALLICNOISE, the mighty Cretin 66. Eighteen ass-kicking tracks loaded with supercharged riffs and hooks. If this record doesn't bring a smile to your face, you're already dead.
http://www.arrakis.es/~frantxu/dix/sp008.jpg
Cretin 66 hail from Kansas City, Missouri. They draw inspiration from the same sources as bands like the Supersuckers. But what distinguishes this band from the crowd is singer/songwriter Screamin' Mikey C., who has an uncanny ability to write fast, hooky material and with consistent ease. He also manages to coin one clever lyrical line after another - like so many hidden cards up a sleeve - while seamlessly avoiding cliches and pretentiousness, and never sounding contrived or forced—just fun. He bridges it all together with a vast quotient of memorable, catchy vocal choruses, somewhat akin to that of the Ramones or even Naked Raygun, though here you'll chant '"dunce" instead of "whoa-e-oh" or "hey-ho." Maybe more appealing to the lower common denom. Goes well with a six or two but high-brows may find every reason to like it too.
—Peter Davis, Your Flesh #47
What a great CD! A total blast of super-cacthy, garage-punk that I was not expecting from these mid-western lunatics. Great songs with hilarious lyrics. Cool cover of "She Lied" (Rockin' Ramrods). Any band that can reference, in one CD, Deep Purple, the Stones, Lucky Charms cereal, the Bad Brains, pot smoking and smashing cars up is all right by me.
—Alan Wright, Amp #7

Auf dem Racing Destruction-Kurs sind Cretin 66 unterwegs. "Bang Yer Fuckin' Head", "Head Blown Off", "She Don't Like The Bad Brains" und "I Don't Care" heißen die Songtitel und das lässt sofort auf Punkrock schließen.

5 Men, 10 Balls Live…
Right from the start, it is obvious The Hellacopters are a real rock band. Hailing from Scandinavia, they have a unique ear for American rock 'n' roll. The Hellacopters gather their influences purely from the music, unencumbered by the social and political stigmas that would affect an American band. They are not concerned with what is cool or hip. Looking from the outside in, they have managed to produce a sound more authentically rock 'n' roll than any band from America could in the 21st century.
Jesus Just Left Stockholm…
This of course is nothing new. British bands like TheYardbirds and The Rolling Stones did the same thing in the 60's. They studied long forgotten and over-looked musical treasures from a far away land and reinvented a raved-up version that they then sold back to the land of its originator. The geographic distance from the source of inspiration was essential to the musical mutation. And in order to fully understand the true value of their own musical heritage, Americans needed the Brit's regurgitated rock 'n' roll re-interpretations to wake them up. This time around, five Swedes are leading the way.
Long Hair, Long nights…
Long-time childhood friends Nicke Royale and Kenny Håkansson absorbed their early musical influences (bands like KISS, The Ramones, and Slayer) in much the same way that Jagger and Richards did before them, spending many a day after school soaking up the sounds from their hard won vinyl collection. Musicologists of the highest order, today all the guys in The Hellacopters are both masters and disciples infusing their own brand of rock with a sincere reverence and overall love of music so strong you can taste it.
Hellstory…
Before The Hellacopters formed in 1994, Nicke was writing songs and drumming in the Swedish death metal combo Entombed. During a break in the action, he asked 3 of his former drum roadies to make some music with him. No master plan, they just wanted to put out a single. Robert Eriksson recalls bumping into Nicke on the subway in Stockholm, "Nicke said 'Hey! You play drums right? Perfect. I'm starting a new band and I'm gonna play guitar and sing, and you are the drummer!' I was like O.K. sure. How can you say no to that?" Small details like the fact that Kenny didn't even have a bass would be worked out later.
Most bands headed for a major label deal work like this: they write some songs, wait to get signed, wait to get the budget to record, wait for the record company to release the album... Just plain too much waiting. And waiting leads to too much thinking, and that never leads to good rock 'n' roll. Then these waiters end up playing a bunch of songs in concert that they wrote years earlier, with no hope of conveying the original spark that gave birth to the song in the first place. The end result can be heard on any commercial robot radio station: a bunch of good actors faking their tunes for a mindless mass market.
The Action Rock Gravy Train…
All the while, The Hellacopters keep on keepin' it real. Their secret is simple.
First, just play music that gets you off. Others will follow because truth-in-rock is contagious. Secondly, keep that music makin' muscle moving. Write, record, and release records by any means necessary. Get them out before they cool down.
The Hellacopters have put out so many records there is no point counting. Their previous album for Universal, Cream of the Crap! Collected Non-Album Works: Volume 1 compiles 18 songs from various singles and EP's and that's just volume one with volume two (and maybe three) on the way. That kind of action rock proliferation is unheard of these days.
Here's another example of the Copter work ethic. The band just recorded 20 songs for their latest record, By The Grace of God. They only used 13 songs on the album, yet they still feel the need to go into the studio this weekend to record 3 or 4 more songs for use as b-sides etc. As John Lee Hooker once sang via Led Zeppelin, "It's in him, and it's got to come out! Gotta let that boy B-B-B-Boooooogie!"
Even Hookier…
Every record in the The Hellacopters catalogue, from the caveman grind of the first 7" single "Killing Allan" to By the Grace of God moves down a straight line getting tighter and hookier. The bands first two full-length records, 1996's Swedish Grammy winning Supershitty to the Max! and 1997's Payin' the Dues are ragged 1st take feedback soaked sonic assaults. Grande Rock tightened things up in 1999 and High Visibility earned the boys a gold record in 2000.
After a short break due to a shoulder injury suffered by Robert Eriksson on the bands European tour with The Hives, we have before us By the Grace of God. Recorded at Polar Studios in Stockholm (where everyone from Abba to Zeppelin have recorded), Chips K. manned the helm again with Michael Ilbert handling the mix at Rommerö Studios
The Hellacopters throw down the gauntlet with By the Grace of God. It plays like a greatest hits compilation. It kicks off with the first single "By the Grace of God" and steamrolls ahead non-stop without one throw-away. Hell, it may even contain the world's first death metal power pop hit with "The Exorcist". By the Grace of God boils down to a peerless collection of 13 classic rock songs destined for the airwaves. Take your pick they're all winners.
By the Grace of God also marks the first song writing offerings from Boba Fet (the enigmatic "Charlie Watts figure" of the band) and Robert Dahlqvist, which can only mean more evolution awaits on the horizon.
Thank Christ for the Copters...
Every once in a while a record falls out of the sky like a bomb. A record with a god-dang purpose. An antidote for the drivel we have been subjected to for the last decade (a Nevermind, a Ramones, a Paranoid, a Hound Dog). By the Grace of God is that record for 2002 and The Hellacopters the saviours… and I know a whole lotta folk need saving just about now.

AURORA
The biggest tragedy of the 20th century can be designated the wreck of the Titancic. As biggest lucky chance at the end of the 20th century can be designated "Aurora", the rippin` hungarian power-punk cruiser which is still sailing on the "hardcore" seas.
Aurora was founded in Györ, Hungary, by the young local punks "Vigi"(guitar/vocals) "Galacs" (Bass), "Polyak" (Drums) and "Dauer" (vocals). This was in 1982, at the height of the Hungarian punk blast , a period in which a punk gig caused big agitation, occasionally by starting riots.
"We started criticizing the Soviet Army a little bit too early. It wasn´t really a surprise when the authorities sent us for trial because of our anticommunist lyrics. Our original singer "Dauer" had to spend two years in prison because according to the authorities he had chosen the "wrong words", Vigi reminds of the old, "romantic" days.

WIZO
In 1989, at the time the Berlin Wall came down, a young punk-rock band called WIZO was recording their first seven-inch-EP in a smelly little basement studio on the dark side of Stuttgart, Germany. The songs on this record, three pieces of hyperkinetic punkrock, soon became hymns for a whole young generation of punkrockers in Germany. Punkrockers, who were just like the guys of WIZO themselves:
Growing up with seventies Brit-Punk, early-eighties political punk bands from Germany such as Slime, Hass or Razzia, bored by the arrogance of straight-edge-U.S.-Hardcore and sick of all those bands, that started out as punkbands and then tried to sound like Guns ´n´ Roses. The kids seemed to be waiting for a band playing infectious punk tunes with serious political statements and a good sense of black humor.
And there was WIZO! They were soon to be known all over Germany for their highly energetic live-shows, their catchy songs and strong anti-racist and anti-fascist statements. In the following years, WIZO played some hundred shows all over Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary and kept releasing record after record. They played with almost every foreign Punk- or Hardcore-band and released songs on many compilations. From time to time they caught big attention of the German media with some rather unusual methods:
In 1991, when they released their first album "Für´n Arsch", they played a surprise-concert from the back of a truck in front of a courthouse. There, the trial of a famous german actor was held (somehow like the O.J.Simpson-trial!). One day later the story of the impudent punkrock band from Sindelfingen was all over german TV and newspapers.

Beautifully shot on 24P cameras and loaded with special features, this DVD also comes with the sounds of that night on a free full-length Live CD. The sound is amazing and is better quality than a "free CD" has any right to be.
Having formed in the post-punk era of the 1980s, the Adolescents have subsequently become something of a punk legend. Based in Orange County, the band stuck strongly to their roots, and adopted a feisty "no sell out" stance which stood them in good stead with the legions of hardcore punk fans who flocked to them. This reunion concert captures all the energy and enthusiasm of the band, as well as delivering an awesome selection of their best material.
Text: Jukka Junttila
Adolescent were a wild surfpunk band from Los Angeles. In a way they were a "California super punkgroup", 'cause the member had ealier played in the bands like Agent Orage, Detours and Social Distortion. Band was formed in 1980 and the line-up was: Tony Cadena (vocals), Steve Soto (bass; ex- Agent Orage), Rikk Agnew (guitar; ex- Slashers, ex- Detours), Casey Royer (drums; ex -Social Distortion, ex- Detours), Frank Agnew (guitar; ex -Social Distortion) and disbanded after recording only one LP.
Band was re-formed in 1986 with Rikk, Steve, Frank and new member Sandy Hansen (drums) and disbanded again in 1989.

"6 years, 6 ft Under the Influence" is the MURDERDOLLS frontman's highly anticipated new offering - FDQ's fifth - the last four having been released between 1996 and 2002.
Having been on hold for the last couple of years while enjoying worldwide success with the MURDERDOLLS, Wednesday is pleased to be bringing the FDQ live experience to the UK March 2004. When asked what fans can expect, he says:
"A lot of questions have been coming in, asking what I will be doing at these shows. I will not be modelling clothing, I will not be doing stand up comedy, unless you consider the music I've made in the past comedy, and no other members of the MURDERDOLLS will be performing with me. I will, however, be playing songs from the entire FRANKENSTEIN DRAG QUEENS history, and promoting the new FDQ release "6 years, 6 ft Under the Influence". This album contains re-recordings and revisions of songs from all 4 albums, as well as a few never-heard-before tracks. I have the Florida-based graverockers Death Becomes You as my backing band. These guys are a bunch of gruesome ghouls and these shows are sure to be a visual hand-grenade of horror.
I will be playing a lot of material from this upcoming release, as well as a few surprises. If the fans are expecting the MURDERDOLLS they can think again. This is a whole different show all together. The differences are many, one that I am playing guitar live, which is something I've never done with MURDERDOLLS. Two, the MURDERDOLLS image is way more glam and this is full on horror.... blood, guts and gore. Simply put, "the MURDERDOLLS are pretty, and we are pretty ugly."
I'm really looking forward to the tour because the fans in the UK are amazing. They have treated me great and I can't wait to play these shows and give them something else to go home and tell their parents about and scare them to death.
I will also be promoting my new merchandise line, "The Thirteen Dead Kids", on this tour, which will available in stores worldwide in March. "The Thirteen Dead Kids" are sure to appeal to MURDERDOLLS / FDQ fans, as well as anyone with a good, fun, sick sense of humour. To all the people of the UK...'Beware and take S-care...Halloween is coming early this year'."
